SALT LAKE CITY — Both directions of 300 West have reopened after a fire at an abandoned building in downtown closed a portion of the road on Monday morning.
All lanes in both directions had reopened as of 8 a.m., according to the KSL Traffic Center.

The building is located on 646 N. 300 West, and firefighters engaged in defensive firefighting operations as smoke and flames reached the roof, the Salt Lake City Fire Department confirmed via Twitter. The blaze started at approximately 4 a.m., and crews were on scene to ensure the fire did not spread to any of the surrounding residences.
Crews initially worried about whether a gas station located near the structure would be impacted.
Fire officials say 300 West was closed due to both the flames and ice on the road in the area.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.
