Granite School District is one of the school districts holding in class sessions Monday through Thursday and doing distance learning on Fridays. Students were able to choose whether to be in class, distance learning or both. Parents, students and teachers were assured there would be security cautions in place and lots of sanitizing.
I spent the last six weeks in the Granite School District substitute teaching at various schools. I went to high schools, junior highs and elementary schools. I am a licensed Kindergarten through Eighth grade teacher and have taught for the last five years. I am here to assure you that Granite is doing a phenomenal job and that more schools should open and follow the same precautions they have in place.
I am not going to name any schools but I want you to know that all of them I attended are following the proper social distancing, sanitizing, masks and plexiglass windows are set in place. Equipment is sanitized after any student touches it, desks are cleaned each time students leave the room and sanitizer is used at that time too. Masks are on every student, and if a student needs one, the office will provide it.
It was a wonderful experience and now that I work for them full time, I will no longer be able to sub. The district does need subs, so please look into becoming one if you need a part-time job helping teachers and students. I highly recommend substitute teaching for Granite School District.
