
It was a game of runs and lead changes at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Friday, as the Utah women’s basketball team battled USC, falling just short in a 60-59 defeat. Utah is 3-6 overall this season and 2-6 in Pac-12 play. Despite holding the lead for over 24 minutes of the game, Utah’s offense stumbled in the second half, shooting just 25 percent from the floor while being outscored 24-22. The Utes shot 30 percent overall and 34 percent from the 3-point line for the game.
Utah’s Brynna Maxwell finished with a game-high 20 points, shooting 5 of 14 from the floor, 3 of 7 from behind the arc and a perfect 7 for 7 from the free-throw line.
Dru Gylten put up a season-high 15 points, which included a career night at the free-throw line where she went 9 for 10. Gylten added seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.
