CHARLESTON, Wasatch County — Authorities are investigating a fatal three-car crash that took place near Deer Creek Reservoir on Friday.
The Utah Department of Transportation first reported the crash about 1:40 p.m. A minivan with five passengers rolled, killing one of the people inside and seriously injuring the other four, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Bishop. One person from each of the other cars that was involved in the crash also suffered serious injuries, Bishop said.
Further details about the crash, such as the identity or ages of those involved, were not immediately available. It’s not clear how the other two cars were involved.

U.S. Highway 189 is closed in both directions about a mile south of state Route 113, also known as Charleston Road, on the east side of the reservoir, according to UDOT. It is expected to be closed for at least four hours, until about 6 p.m., while authorities investigate the crash.
