Henefer-Echo Wildlife Management Area temporarily closed
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources issued a temporary emergency closure of the Henefer-Echo Wildlife Management Area due to the Fire Canyon Fire, according to DWR Public Information Officer Faith Heaton Jolley.
‘Several hunters who were on the WMA for the opening day of the general-season rifle deer hunt spotted the wildfire on a ridge between Bald Canyon and Fire Canyon and reported it to officials,” read the statement. “Several DWR conservation officers responded to the fire, along with the North Summit County Fire Department, Summit County Sheriff’s Office and several other agencies.”
The Wildlife Management Area is closed affective immediately, people are asked to stay out of the canyon until the closure has been lifted. The DWR will re-evaluate the closure in 24 hours.
The Department of Wildlife Resources helped several hunters out of the area in between the two fires.
